This one-time screening presents director Jessica Villerius’ powerful documentary Marvel Harris: Everything is Now, which follows the personal and artistic journey that produced the winner of this year's First Book Award, Marvel Harris' MARVEL.
“I was determined to follow Marvel on this exceptional journey because I am convinced that he can educate and inspire people – others who consider themselves non-binary, and more broadly, anyone who knows someone who may be struggling with gender identity.” — Jessica Villerius
Presented in Dutch with English subtitles.

MARVEL describes the journey of Marvel Harris’ personal battles with mental illness, self-love, acceptance, and gender identity, all told through a searing collection of self-portraits spanning the course of five years. These photographs present a new-found visual language; a tool with which Marvel was able to express those emotions that, on account of his autism, he previously struggled to make sense of. The process of making these portraits allowed him to connect to the world around him at the time he needed it most.
