A Limited Edition book sculpture by the renowned artist, writer and film director, Miranda July. At the very moment she realised that the Covid emergency was taking grip of the globe, Miranda July received an unsolicited phone call offering ‘services’. Over the course of the first six months of the pandemic, July communicated extensively with the caller, Jay Benedicto, a trans woman in the Philippines. The resulting intimate exchange of ideas and images has been designed by July in to a book sculpture. The hand-made leporello (concertina) unfolds to more than 7 metres (23 feet) wide and includes 4 museum grade inkjet prints. Consisting in the following elements: a hand-made leporello bound (concertina) hardback book comprising 14 pages (each 516mm wide x 328 high); four museum grade inkjet prints (each signed by MJ, numbered 1/25 to 25/25); housed in a handmade slipcase.
